Local charity, EnviroAbility, is looking for more donations of larger, pre-loved furniture.

EnviroAbility is well known in Ross-on-Wye as it aims to provide opportunities for people from disadvantaged groups to make a positive contribution to the community.

To help with funding they run a shop in Brookend Street (opposite Aldi) where they refurbish and sell donated items including large and small items of furniture, bric a brac, electrical items and textiles. Although they have a steady stream of the smaller items they are finding it more and more difficult to source larger pieces of furniture from people who may want to donate to the worthy cause.

EnviroAbility offers free collections of larger items that you would struggle to get in your car to anyone in Ross-on-Wye and the surrounding areas. These items could include wardrobes, chest of drawers, bedside tables, dining tables and sofas (must have a fire label attached to comply with the health and safety regulations).

Paula Evans the manager of EnviroAbility told the Ross Gazette: “At EnviroAbility we try our best not to refuse anything donated to us, we live up to our name and reuse and recycle where possible. Providing the items are in reasonable saleable condition we will never refuse them.

“With funding becoming more difficult to source, we, as a charity rely heavily on the sales of furniture to be able to fulfil our aims, set up new projects and keep our existing projects running.

“We would really appreciate it if anyone has anything they would like to donate to please give us a call on 01989 763388 and speak to a member of our team.”

To carry on with these initiatives they also need a regular supply of volunteers. Whether you have some spare time, are looking for work and want to show a CV that reflects a contributor, looking to retrain for a change of career direction or just want to join in the fun, please do not hesitate to call Paula on 01989 763388.
