The Co-op in Ross-on-Wye recently presented a £250 cheque to the Hope Support charity.

The money given to the charities came from a community fund that Co-op use to help local groups and organisations in the communities.

The Co-op local community fund gives money to local organisations to fund projects that help to bring people together and make a difference. It was raised in the store and came from the sales of carrier bags and customers swiping their membership cards instore.

The Hope Support charity was set up in 2009. They support young people when a close family member is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, such as cancer. They are a truly youth-led service.

A spokesperson for the charity said: “We’re dedicated to helping others going through a family health crisis because we have all been there. We know how important it is to be around people who understand what you’re going through.”

A spokesperson for Co-op wished the charity luck and said: “Another fantastic contribution to the community of Ross-on-Wye. Always a privilege to present a cheque for a great cause.”
