Harriette Smith, a dental nurse who works in Ross-on-Wye, is volunteering in Uganda next year to help support communities there.
Harriette told the Ross Gazette that she has always wanted to help others in need as much as she can, and will be volunteering with a dental charity called Dentaid, supporting local schools, orphanages and remote communities who do not have regular access to dental care.
She said: “We will be providing those in need with oral health education, preventive dental treatments and provide pain relief dental treatments.
“In order for me to go on this trip I need to fundraise a total of £1950 to cover the cost of expenses on the trip as well as to supply basic dental materials for the mission and to fundraise and support Dentaid’s ongoing work.”
