Dozens of families have already joined the Ross Community Litter Clean Up Crew as they continue their great work in keeping Ross-on-Wye clean and tidy for the many visitors to the town.
One of those families is Gareth Dempsey, his wife Lucy and their two children Henry, who is eight years old, and Harriet, who is six, who moved to Ross in August 2017 from Yorkshire.
Gareth, who also acts as the leader of Ross Beavers, believes the group have done a great job in Ross.
“Since moving to Ross I have seen first-hand the incredible work done by RCLCUC. Before we moved to Ross we were not familiar with Litter Clean Up Crews but since living here we have become very used to seeing different people helping clean up and that has really inspired us a family to do our bit to help as well.”
The Ross Community Litter Clean Up Crew was formed in the Spring of 2018, and has grown ever since with different organisations and local groups including Bridstow Brownies and Ross Court Care Home offering their support.
Speaking of how Ross Beavers have got involved, Gareth said: “We try and teach the kids about the importance of the environment and how they can make a difference. A great way of teaching them about this is by putting ideas into actions, that is why as a group every term we go out and help litter pick with the crew.”
“Herefordshire Council have also been very kind in donating 20 sets of litter pickers for us to help out. Each set costs around £8 so their support is greatly appreciated for a group such as ours."
Ross Beavers will be joining the Litter Clean Up Crew for their Great British Spring Clean on March 20th.
