Members of the Ross and District branch of the Royal British Legion are among the thousands of people who remembered the events of D-Day and the Normandy landings 75 years ago.
Like the world leaders who gathered at the site of the landings today, Thursday, June 6th, to honour the heroes that landed on the beaches of Normandy on June 6th, 1944, they remembered those who gave their lives to free Europe from the horror of nazism.
Work on the Market House stopped for a few minutes as the flag was raised in the Market Place and a minute’s silence was held.D-Day was the name given to Allied invasion of Normandy in Operation Overlord and it was a decisive moment during World War II.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
