Members of the Community Food Larder were thrilled to open their hew home in St Mary’s Church Hall on Monday, December 17th.
The Reverend Jill Talbot-Ponsonby blessed the new venture and paid tribute to everyone who had helped from the time the Larder was just an idea. These included the Town Council who had given a grant to get the service started, to those who had manned it regularly and of course those who had put in the work to transform the basement of the hall into a bright welcoming storage space for the larder.
Reverend Talbot-Ponsonby thanked St Mary’s for the use of the upstairs room in the hall which had opened seven years ago but added that their new base would be much easier for those using the larder to access from the main street in Palace Pound as well as the volunteers who had to carry supplies up the stairs previously.
