It must be every kids dream to own their own sweet shop, and that dream became a reality for one lucky youngster in Ross-on-Wye, on Saturday, April 9th.
As part of their sixth birthday of Tudor Sweets, owners Daniel and Sue Pearce invited local youngsters aged between 11 and 16 to guess the number of jars of sweet lining the groaning shelves of their traditional sweet shop on the High Street. The prize was the opportunity for the winner to become the sweet shop owner for a day.
“We had hundreds and hundreds of entries,” said Daniel Pearce. “Some took it very seriously indeed and meticulously counted over and over again but it was Twelve-year-old Olivia Lerego’s guess of 540 jars that was the closest to the actual number of 533.”
As a part of her prize, Olivia was also given lots of goodies; she was able to take home a huge jar full of sweets of her choice after her shift came to an end.
