Several Ross Junior Girls teams, from the Under 8s to the Under 12s age groups, received a recent invitation from their sister club, Birmingham City Ladies FC, to be part of a pitch parade, prior to this year’s womens FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium.

The club were delighted to receive the invitation and plans were put in place to make the day extra special; departing at 7.30am, the girls boarded a coach, belonging to Swansea City Football Team, which came fully equipped with Sky TV, wifi, tables and a kitchen.

Pete Rowberry, one of the parents, kindly assumed his usual role of chef and cooked pizza for the girls on the way down to the game.

On arriving at Wembley, the coach was met by some girls and their parents who had travelled by car, and the girls all posed together for a set of group photos.

Once inside the ground, the parents enjoyed the peace and quiet whilst the girls and the coaches went on a behind-the-scenes walk around Wembley.

They then followed Arsenal and Man Utd U17 girls teams on the pre-kick off parade around the Wembley pitch.

The girls were so pleased to be so close to the hallowed turf and, as they walked round in their Ross kit, they got lots of cheers and could see themselves on the big Wembley screens.

Following the parade the girls returned to their seats to watch Arsenal deservedly beat Chelsea 1-0.

The most enjoyable part of the day for many of the girls was successfully staging a Mexican wave from their seats, which went all the way around the ground.

One of the girls, Violet was celebrating her birthday and on such an amazing day it was made all the more memorable when she received a Happy Birthday message from the England Ladies manager, Mark Sampson.

The girls, parents and coaches eventually arrived back in Ross at 9pm. The day was one the girls will never forget.
