Ross-on-Wye mum, Becky Wall, 35 has set herself a tough challenge in order to raise funds for a charity very close to her heart.

Becky is preparing for a skydive in August to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. Her eight-year-old daughter Maddie, was born with a large PDA of the heart and at just nine months old she underwent surgery to try and fix it with a stent. It worked but left a slight leak. Maddie continued to be monitored and as she got older the team noticed multiple problems with her heart which means she will have to undergo open heart surgery in the coming years.

Becky told the Ross Gazette, “Maddie is a very brave unique girl who never lets it get her down, from birth she has had constant hospital appointments and has been pricked and prodded , but she’s hard as nails and takes it all in her stride.”

Maddie loves dressing up and putting on shows for her family, and Becky said nothing seems to phase her, She also has a very high pain threshhold and just gets on with things. He proud Grandma, Caroline Hatch told the Ross Gazette, Maddie is a real live wire and you would never know what she goes through.

Last year Becky undertook a Detox for a month but this year she decided to push herself a bit further. She originally set her target at £500 but this has already been reached so she is hoping to make it £1,000.

Becky told the Ross Gazette she has never done anything like this before and is trying not to think about the actual skydive, which is on August 19th, just that it will be helping the BHF.
