Becky Wall, a mum of two from Ross-on-Wye, took part in a skydive on Monday, August 28th, to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.

Becky’s eight-year-old daughter, Maddie, was born with a large PDA of the heart and she underwent surgery when she was only nine months old, to try and fix it.

The surgery worked, but left a slight leak. Maddie has continued to be monitored as she has grown older, but a few years ago, the specialist team noticed that there were multiple problems with her heart. This means that Maddie will have to undergo open heart surgery in the coming years.

Becky told the Ross Gazette, “Maddie is a very brave unique girl who never lets it get her down, from birth she has had constant hospital appointments and has been pricked and prodded , but she’s hard as nails and takes it all in her stride.”

Becky said that taking part in the skydive was all for a good cause, and if Maddie can put up with her heart condition on a daily basis, there was no reason that she couldn’t jump out of a plane.

On the day of the parachute jump, which took place in Swindon, Becky’s husband and two children went along for moral support. But Becky did not feel nervous in the slightest, even when the door of the plane opened, and she could hear the roar of the wind.

Becky has, so far, raised more than £1,500 for the British Heart Foundation, and she told the Ross Gazette that she would like to thank her family, friends and everyone who has supported her.

For those who would like to see it, Becky has posted a video of her skydive on her Facebook page.
