A Ross-on-Wye opticians is marking International Assistance Dog Week (August 5th – 11th) with a fundraising week for Guide Dogs.
Staff at Specsavers will be running a dog-themed children’s colouring competition leading up to the week and will announce the winners on Friday, August 10th, when staff will also host a cake sale. Colouring sheets are currently available to pick up in store.
To further boost the fundraising total, staff members will carry out specs MOTs (cleaning and adjustments) in return for donations.
Store Director, Lee Thomas said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating International Assistance Dog Week this year. Guide Dogs is always a really popular charity with our customers so we’re hoping they’ll get behind us and help us reach a great fundraising total.”
Guide dogs provide mobility and freedom to blind and partially sighted people. The charity also campaigns for the rights of people with visual impairment, educates the public about eyecare and funds eye disease research.
