Residents of Ross-on-Wye can look forward to an additional day to use the Household Waste Recycling Centre, now that Herefordshire Council has agreed to a trial.

The Centre will be opening on every Monday from April 1st, 2019, for a trial period of six months.

Although the final planning decisions could alter the trial, Mayor Harry Bramer is confident it will go ahead.

Joyce Thomas, who has been campaigning for extra opening hours at the Centre is delighted with this outcome. She told the Ross Gazette: “Over the next few years, many houses will be built. The extra day we have asked for will make such a difference.

“It is for a trial period and that is great, but if we don’t use it, we will lose it.

“My gratitude goes to Councillor Harry Bramer for being so helpful, and as a Herefordshire Councillor, pushing it forward to this stage. I am delighted.”

Councillor Harry Bramer said: “This is fantastic for Ross-on-Wye. The trial will assess how much use the Recycling Centre gets, and will show how much the people of Ross need this facility. The money has been sourced from exisiting finances, however, if it’s not used enough, it will not remain open for the four days.”
