The hundreds of youngsters who play football or cricket, the parents and volunteers who support them, as well as new users of the facilities, including those joining in with the new Ross-on-Wye parkrun, are all thrilled that eight years after Ross football and cricket clubs joined together to form the Ross Sports Centre CIC (community interest company) they have gone from strength to strength. They are doing so well that the CIC has been nominated for the Herefordshire Business Awards for Charity/Social Enterprise and they are proud and delighted that they have reached the final for this prestigious award which will be announced on Friday, October 25th.

Paul Flitney, one of the members of the committee told the Ross Gazette that it is thanks to everyone who uses the clubhouse and has bought into the belief that Ross deserved better sporting facilities that they have achieved so much. He said: “The CIC now has the brilliant parkrun as regular users, a pétanque club is starting soon, we host music festivals, charity events and school sports. All of these helps the CIC stay solvent and improve facilities.”See the full story in this week’s edition of the Ross Gazette, or subscribe to our online edition here
