Ross-on-Wye singer April Shipton is putting the finishing touches to the music video for her new single ‘Journey On’.

Supporters of the nationally recognised recording artist April, raised the £1,200 needed to cover production costs in just three weeks.

The contemporary Christian singer-songwriter has also been inundated with offers of people offering their skills, time and even their own cars to pack as much cinematic quality into the video as possible.

The video, which is due out in July, will feature Ross residents and include scenes filmed in the town and surrounding area.

April found success last year when she submitted her music to national Christian radio stations, and is currently celebrating ‘Journey On’ as her fifth song to feature on radio playlists. Last week it was leading national Christian broadcaster - UCB’s single of the week and April herself was the station’s artist of the week.

April said: “I love Ross, and I think investing in community is really important, which is why I want to feature local scenery in the video.

“As I have a chance here to showcase what makes Ross great, I’ve chosen spots that mean a lot to me or demonstrate its outstanding beauty.”

April told the Ross Gazette that she hopes the video and its message will be far reaching.

“Video is such a powerful tool for reaching and impacting people, and sadly, not always for the best.

“In our celebrity culture, it’s never been easier to compare ourselves to the people we watch on TV and feel insignificant. So we want to use every tool at our disposal to produce a music video of such high calibre that it is seen with the same significance as other media influences, to tell people the truth that their journey matters, their life is unique and their story is beautiful.”

The final filming day takes place in several undisclosed locations in Ross-on-Wye this Saturday, June 30th.
