Ross resident Joyce Thomas asked the Town Councillors why so many of them did not attend the Mayor Making ceremony on June 4th.
Mrs Thomas spoke at the Ross Town Council meeting on Monday, June 11th. She praised the way the event to install the new Mayor of Ross-on-Wye, Cllr Harry Bramer had been organised, but added that for Councillors not to attend showed a lack of interest. She said it is a date the Councillors would have had in their diaries for some time.
Mrs Thomas said she was surprised to see so few Councillors present. She said: “This was a civic meeting and I am sure those residents present looked for the Councillors they voted for.”
The Ross Gazette understands that some of the Councillors who did not attend had been on holiday. Councillor Julian Utting said that he had work commitments.
Mrs Thomas added that she hoped that in the 100th anniversary year since women won the vote, there would be good turnout for the election in the Ross East Ward on Thursday, June 14th, as voting is very important.
