Councillor Caroline Utting was very pleased to accept a cheque, on behalf of the volunteers for the upkeep of the the Blake Memorial Gardens Diamond Jubilee Project Ross-on-Wye, from the outgoing President of Ross-on-Wye Rotary Club, Richard Williams on Wednesday, 21st November. The Blake Memorial Garden project was set up in March, 2011 to improve the Blake Memorial Garden, which forms an important link between the town of Ross and the riverside, and to celebrate the Queen’s forthcoming Diamond Jubilee.
The Jubilee Project volunteers have been supported by them and Ross in Bloom and a number of local businesses including The Ross Garden Store. A spokesperson for the Blake Garden said: “We are very grateful for the club’s support over the last few years. It has meant we can plan new and interesting planting for the garden that is easier to maintain and more suited to local growing conditions.”
Cllr Utting also receieved a cheque of £250 from Richard to go towards the Ross Children’s Projects. A spokesperson for the Children’s Projects said: “The money will be put to good use, providing out of school activities for the youngsters of Ross.”See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
