TEWKESBURY started the brightest, establishing possession and territory deep in the Ross half. Some committed defending from the forwards and backs kept the Ross try line intact and after Ross infringed Tewkesbury, elected to kick for goal and opened up a 3-0 lead.
The rest of the half was evenly fought. Howev Tewkesbury stretched their lead to 10-0. With half time looming Ross did score a try after Jake Christopher had charged down a clearance kick. He pounced on the loose ball to score. The referee, however, decided Jake had not touched the ball down before it ran over the dead ball line. This score would have given a 10-7 half time scoreline. Instead Ross went in 10-0 down.
Ross needed the first score of the second half to get them back into the game, however it was Tewkesbury once again that took their chances. From a scrum 20 yards out their number 9 dummied before scoring under the posts to give an easy conversion and Ross were 17-0 behind. The Ross pack continued to work hard with ball in hand and some strong running from Mike Davies and Gavin Oates set up Josh Morgan to score in the left hand corner bringing the score back to 17-5. Another score and it was game on.
For the next 15 minutes Ross threw everything at the opposition. But the Tewkesbury defence held firm and two late tries and a penalty flattered the opposition as they pulled away to win 32-5.
Next week Ross 1sts travel to Whitehall Bristol, whilst the 2nds travel to Malvern.
The Terrys Digital Man of the match were the Ross front row of Dave Mince, Chris Price and Tony Clements, who stepped in last minute.
