A Royal Navy sailor from Ross-on-Wye has been recognised for 15 years dedicated service.

Leading Supply Chain David Hirst was presented with his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal on parade at HMS Raleigh, in Cornwall, where he is currently serving. The 34-year-old is passing on his vast experience to new recruits as an instructor at the Defence Maritime Logistics School.

A former pupil of John Kyrle High School, David joined the Royal Navy in 2000. He has served on three warships and also ashore at the Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton in Somerset, the Permanent Joint Headquarters at Northwood and with 1 Assault Group Royal Marines in Plymouth. David has also served overseas in the Falkland Islands and has seen active service in Iraq.
