Ross Town Football Club's 1st and 2nd teams have not played since before Christmas because the extreme weather caused frozen pitches and then waterlogging.
This coming Saturday, January 17th, Ross Town 1sts have no League match but the Club is hoping to play a home match versus Fownhope.
Ross Town 2nds are playing away against Hampton Park Rangers.
The Club is seeking funding from Ross Town Council to rebuild the home and away dug-outs at the Sports Centre.
Ross Town FC must get 3 quotes for new dug-outs
The Town Council has asked Ross Town Football Club to get three quotations for the work to build new dug-outs at the Sports Centre field.
The Club's application for a grant of £3,544 to remove the existing dug-outs and replace them with new home and away dug-outs was debated by Councillors at Monday's Town Council meeting.
Deputy Mayor, Councillor John Edwards said that the application had been passed on from the Finance Committee because it was over the £1,000 limit.
He said:?"I'm in favour of it. I suggest we don't give the money directly to the football club. We should buy the units ourselves. This is an opportunity to replace ancient and shabby dug-outs and make the Sports Centre more respectable."
Councillor David Ravenscroft said:?"It's a lot of money for an open fronted shed with a seat in it."
Councillor Jenny Hyde agreed with him:?"These could be replaced with a bit of self-help, it is an inordinate amount of money for these plans. If we agreed to this amount of money where would it come from?"
The Town Clerk, Denise Mason replied:?"It would have to come out of the reserves."
The Councillors voted to ask Ross Town Football Club to submit three quotations for the work.
