Ross Market House Visitor Centre has been awarded £45,000 of grant funding from Arts Council England to make improvements.
The money will pay for the redesign and refurbishment of the retail area, improved display cases, improved interpretation, a touch screen information kiosk, improved storage, floor insulation and heating and an automatic winding mechanism for the market hall clock.
The work will begin sometime after March 10th and the centre will re-open for business on March 29th ready for Easter.
Councillor Richard Mayo told the Gazette he was thrilled about the news and the work will rejuvenate the experience for visitors and local people at the centre and make it well placed to provide a first rate service.
A Heritage Lottery grant has also been applied for, which, if the application is successful, will improve the heritage display of the history of Ross-on-Wye.
