TODAY, June 6, Royal British Legion branch members from Ross-on-Wye commemorated the anniversary of D Day.
On the steps of the Market House, they were joined by the Ross town mayor, Cllr Linden Delves and town hall staff, the Rector of St Mary’s Rev’d Prebendary Kelvin Price to commemorate the 81st anniversary of D Day.
In a short, but nevertheless moving ceremony, Mary Sinclair Powell proudly hoisted the Union Jack flag to honour all who participated in this historic day in 1944.
Next week on Saturday, June 14 at 10am at the Market House, the branch will honour all those who participated in the Falklands Conflict in 1982 – A dispute over the sovereignty of the Falkland Islands which lasted for 74 days and cost over 900 lives.
