Members of the Royal British Legion branch and guests gathered this week to open the memorial garden in Ross.

Branch vice chairman, Cecilia Griffin, read the opening statement, before the branch secretary, Sue Parker, read a prayer that had been specially written by the branch chaplain, Canon Freda Davies.

The Mayor, Councillor Linen Delves, planted the first cross. The event also also remembered Ray Tyler, branch member who died earlier this year. His memorial plaque was installed on the planter and his widow Lorna, was at the Memorial Garden to see it or the first time.

Local residents are invited to add their crosses to the planter. They are available from poppy stands in Morrisons and Aldi as well as from the RBL poppy shop and can be engraved at Little Saplings.
