Madam, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have helped our Ross branch celebrate this 90th anniversary year of the Royal British Legion.

We have held three events in the past few months that demanded a lot of hard work from our small committee and its families and friends. First, Jules King, our secretary, who organised the Fun Day in May. Secondly, Margaret Jones, our Membership and Welfare secretary, who with the help of her family of supporters ran the Tea Afternoon at Wilton Castle and then the Legion Gazebo at both Ross in Bloom and the Carnival. Thirdly, Fred Jones who helped me build our carnival float, without whom I could not have done it, and Dave Hulme from Hereford who helped us with all the artwork and final construction of the float.

However, none of this could have happened without the magnificent support we received from the local community: A.B.E. of Ledbury and Gwalia Van Hire who loaned us the vehicles we needed; and Walford Timber, Bradford's, Travis Perkins and B&Q of Hereford who gave us the materials we required. Also the many businesses in Ross, who donated prizes for our sealed bid and other draws. In doing all this I can only hope we have raised our profile as a branch in Ross, so that we can continue to help with the welfare of our local ex-service community when they most need it. 'Shoulder to shoulder with all who serve'.
