One of the hardest working members of the Royal family certainly lived up to her reputation when she visited Weston under Penyard, and several other places around the county, on Monday, September 13th.
Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal visited The Leadership Trust, which is based at Weston, as part of their 35th anniversary celebrations. She unveiled a plaque to mark the occasion. The Princess spent a considerable time meeting staff at the Trust and the people who make use of the organisation or support its aims.
She spoke with representatives of local organisations such as the Church and schools including Reverend Neil Patterson, Rector of Weston, Rod Barker, church warden, Brian Bird, Headteacher of Weston Primary School, Nigel Griffiths of JKHS and Jo Jones of Ready Steady Win. The Mayor of Ross, Jo Lane was one of the welcoming party.
Councillor Lane told The Ross Gazette that she was charmed by the Princess who engaged everyone in conversation and seemed genuinely interested in each person she met.
Princess Anne was introduced to everyone and although she was on a very tight schedule she spent time talking to them and showed a great deal of interest in the work of The Leadership Trust.
