Those who use the Community Garden in Ross-on-Wye have been busy making their own scarecrows to decorate their plant beds. Everybody brought in items from home to dress and decorate their scarecrows with, which took a few weeks to complete.

Tim Shelley, Project Leader at the Community Garden, told the Ross Gazette that the idea behind making scarecrows was to add another creative element to gardening, and demonstrate that it’s not just about planting flowers and growing vegetables.

The scarecrows are bright and colourful, and all depict each gardener’s own individuality. They will remain standing in the garden until late September this year.

Children from local primary schools have also enjoyed visiting the scarecrows and learning about how they are made.
