MADAM, I was pleased to read the article in Ross Gazette issue of December 12th, regarding Councillor Atkinson and Richard Mayo's efforts to provide extra bins for dog mess. However I think the problem lies with attitude more than lack of bins.

We have lots of dog walkers in our immediate area who take their dog mess home to dispose of it, well done to them. There is just one person who habitually leaves a bag of mess on the verges or thrown into a bush. What don't they understand about 'take it home'.

As we have a school close by I think behaving responsibly with a view to hygiene and good manners is doubly important. Dog owners for the most part accept the less pleasant aspects of dog ownership but the few who don't give everyone a bad name.
