Dear Editor,

As a resident of Leys Hill, I know the Ross Gazette has carried numerous stories of the problems we have with BT and our telephone service.

I would like you to know that they remain ongoing. At the time of writing, our telephone has had a fault since December 14th. It was due to be fixed on December 18th, but the problem remains and we have had no update from BT. A neighbour has recently been reconnected after being without any service for over a week and Mrs Rachel Knapton’s problems with her telephone, persisting over many months, have already been documented by your newspaper.

Openreach have claimed that they will fix the slow connections and problems on Leys Hill but nothing seems to have been done. We are plagued by phone faults and erratic internet connections with wildly varying speeds. We also have no mobile phone coverage in the area.

I suspect that this is at least in part due to a lack of investment by the Fastershire scheme. Literally all around us, they have upgraded the infrastructure to the superior FTTP; we were not deemed worthy of this. Fastershire are consistently slow to respond to questions and when they do, the answers are vague and generic. There seems to me to be little to no accountability for them and as a scheme part-funded by taxpayers’ money, this is unacceptable. They have, though, finally admitted that they have no further plans to upgrade our connectivity and so I suspect Leys Hill will be stuck with these issues well into the future, whatever BT and Openreach might claim.
