A man from Boxbush, Gloucestershire, recently reported a very damaged road surface on the A40 Weston under Penyard, heading west towards Ross-on-Wye.

He told the Ross Gazette that he emailed Herefordshire Highways around four weeks ago, who gave him a reference number of 18762041, and was told an inspector would visit.

The motorist was concerned that after several weeks the road had not been repaired. He contacted the Ross Gazette to say that the section of damaged road is near to the right hand turn into Springetts Lane, and it is eight metres long, four metres wide and five inches deep.

The Ross Gazette contacted Herefordshire Council who said: “We can confirm that an inspection has taken place, and the defect has been referred to our asset management team.

“Repairs will be prioritised in accordance with the Highways Maintenance Plan, and in the meantime we will continue to monitor the location.”
