Madam, To lose one Jamstand may be regarded as being a misfortune. To lose two looks like conspiracy.

Speaking as a 60 year old who has no intention or desire to attend Jamstand, I wish to make it clear that I consider the action of the County Council in effectively banning this event to be a grotesque and ultimately hugely misguided insult to the younger members of this community. Not that they will be part of the community for much longer - what possible reason do the youth of Ross have for staying in a town where their huge efforts, expended over many weeks, can be casually struck down in the name of petty bureaucratic expediency?

After all, the idea that the failure of the organisers 'to publish a public notice in the local press.' should lead to its banning, is so transparently absurd as to be laughable. The issue has been aired time and again in the pages of the local press over the past several weeks.

Had it been any other more 'socially acceptable' event (a dog show or some rally in support of the political great and good) I have absolutely no doubt that these legal niceties could be quietly overlooked.

This is a shameful decision. Not for the first time, I am ashamed of our local representatives.
