Two charities were the intended beneficiaries of monies raised at the recent Ross Choristers’ Concert at Christchurch. The local newly formed Dementia Support Group benefited to the tune of £500 and now a cheque for £350 will be sent to Cancer Research UK with a specific request for it to be ring-fenced for research into colon cancer.

These latest donations bring the total money raised for worthy causes since the choir’s formation in 2007 to in excess of £15,000. Concerts have been held at numerous Herefordshire churches in aid of building restoration and SAFFA, Diabetes UK, The British Legion and the Community Hospital are among other worthy causes that have been supported.

Saint Batholomew Church in Redmarley, Dabitot, is the venue for the choir’s next concert on September 1st. The choir will be singing to help raise funds for essential building repairs.

The choir comprises 35 or so mixed voices and practises each Monday at the Conservative Club between 7.30pm and 9.30pm. The members are always happy to welcome kindred spirits who enjoy singing for fun.
