Earlier this month, children from Tiny Beginnings Nursery, Whitchurch visited Whitchurch House Residential Care Home. The children showed the residents how they use playdough while listening to music and chatted to them.
Deputy Manager Lynette Bundy said, “It was so wonderful to see how the children and residents interacted. There were so many smiley faces; the residents even joined in with the playdough finger disco!”
Manager Bridget Reeves said; “This was an experimental visit that was more successful than we could ever have imagined. We know how vital it is that children experience different environments and make an empathetic connection with older people. It went so well, we are returning to sing Christmas songs to them in early December, and plan to make this a regular visit”.
The managers at Whitchurch House Residential Care Home said: "We always encourage contact with the local community as part of our activities program, the visit from the children and staff at Tiny Beginnings Nursery was a great initiative, the positive comments combined with all the happy faces from the children, residents and staff confirmed this, we are all looking forward to the Christmas songs and future visits."
