With temperatures hitting record levels in many parts of the country Ross-on-Wye residents appear to have heeded warnings to stay inside and keep pets, especially dogs in the shade. However others are looking for ways to cool down and warnings have been issued by Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service about the risks of ‘cold water shock’ from jumping or falling into open water.

Hereford Highways have even tweeted that they will be gritting some roads today as the rock dust can help protect roads being affected by hot weather. However high temperatures often bring thunderstorms and Dave Throup of the Environment Agency, who has been engaged in a multi agency flood plan review meeting at Hereford today, has also tweeted a warning about possible thunderstorms in Hereford this evening.
