MADAM, I agree that the Ross one way system needs some changes, it is certainly not particularly satisfactory at the moment. However if - as one reader suggests - Copse Cross Street is made one way, presumably coming up from Town, there would be even more congestion because traffic coming into Ross has only two alternatives. Church Street would have to be changed to one way towards town necessitating alterations to High Street (I do not think motorists would want to go all town round to get back into the centre) and Alton Street already has quite a considerable volume of traffic.

It has always been my opinion that parking on only one side of Gloucester Road would vastly increase the flow of traffic there, enabling wide loads, lorries and emergency services to pass through more quickly without the current hold ups.
