THE forthcoming Much Marcle Steam Rally is much more than the event title suggests.
This year’s Steam Rally is its 40th anniversary and organisers are looking to make it a very special event.
Last year huge crowds attended the rally which featured an array of steam traction engines, vintage tractors, classic commercial vehicles, vintage motor cycles and cars dating back to the 1920s.
The event also had a number of stationary engines on show with fairground organs giving the event a music backdrop. Also on show were county crafts artists showing off their skills.
This year’s event which takes place on Saturday and Sunday, July 18 and 19 is no different as it features a superb array of steam traction engines, vintage tractors, vintage commercial vehicles, classic motorcycles and cars along with stationary engines, fairground organs, models and crafts.
The organisers are allowing dogs onto the show field, however, they must be kept on leads at all times and request that owners clean up after them.
For those interested in exhibiting at the event, especially the steam and miniature steam, commercials and tractors sectors are asked to contact section steward via the website muchmarclesteamrally.com.
The admission prices are £12.50 on the day for adults whilst those aged Under 16 are admitted for free. Early bird tickets available via the website.
There is free parking for everyone, with disabled spaces close to the main gate.
The organisers also have plenty of room for anyone interested in camping on the adjacent field who would like to stay to enjoy the atmosphere across the full weekend.
The event opens up on Saturday at 8am with an auction starting at 10am. The gates open on Sunday at 9am. The event will close at 4pm.
