Residents, Town Council staff, and councillors, including the Mayor of Ross-on-Wye, gathered on Wednesday, October 2nd on Walford Road, Ross-on-Wye, to celebrate the installation of a Speed Indicator Device (SID).
Ross Town Council say it will be used on a monthly rotational basis at four different locations in the town - along Walford Road, Archenfield Road, Ledbury Road and at Hildersley.
The SID has the ability to record data and produce reports on traffic volumes, speeds, and at different times of day, of vehicles travelling into the town. The SID has been purchased through S106 funding from Herefordshire Council.
Councillors told the Ross Gazette that the speed camera will not record speeds above 50, so as not to encourage motorists to race to see the fastest speed they can record.
