Dear Editor,

While waiting to exit right from Smallbrook Road onto Gloucester Road on Easter Monday, a large white van shot across my bows in what can only be described as a blur. When traffic subsequently allowed me to come up behind it, I was surprised to find that it was neither a Mercedes, nor Lewis Hamilton, but one of those Video Surveillance vehicles deployed to photograph speeding motorists.

Had this one been able to satisfy the current fad for what’s known as a “selfie”, then three points and a very large fine would have been the result.
