Among the many sports clubs affected by the recent floods is the Ross-on-Wye Cricket Club. The pavilion was flooded washing the outside steps away and leaving the inside sodden and filthy.

The mowers and rollers have been left standing in river water in the store shed. All this has followed a season where the club members have had to fight hard to get back on track after a fire in the store shed in the summer of 2018.

The club will be working hard to make repairs to the pavilion and get pitch and wickets match ready ahead of the 2020 season when they will be welcoming teams from the Marches League and further field, as well as their growing junior section and All Stars enthusiasts. The club has set up a page should anyone wish to donate: https://www.gofundme.com/f/rossonwye-wye-cricket-club

Ross Rowing Club is also a hugely important part of the town, attracting a membership of all ages and its annual fundraising regatta, one of the largest in the country, brings thousands of competitors and spectators to the area.

This has all been jeopardised by the recent extensive flood damage to the club as a result of the historic river levels. As a community group, they are without the key supporting infrastructure required to operate effectively.

With no social facilities/bar, changing rooms, loos, warm shelter there is a significant economic impact on their fundraising activities which may threaten the financial future of the club.
