Hereford Cathedral School music scholar Laurence John has just become possibly the youngest organist in the 700-year history of St Mary’s Parish Church, Ross-on-Wye.

Laurence, who is only 17 and has lived in Ross-on-Wye all his life, is widely regarded as one of the finest young classical organists in Britain.

When his appointment was announced at the church’s Sunday Morning Eucharist, it was greeted by an enthusiastic round of applause from the large congregation.
