Police are investigating after a stone was thrown from a bridge over the M50, smashing the windscreen of an 18 ton lorry travelling along the motorway below at around 2.30pm on Friday September 2nd. The driver of the lorry, who is 33 and from Newport in South Wales, was travelling towards Ross when he saw a group of three or four youths on an over bridge near Dymock. A large stone was then thrown at his windscreen. The driver was unhurt but the incident could have had far more serious consequences.
In April the Gazette reported on two similar incidents and the message remains the same: dangerous pranks can have fatal consequences. Parents are urged to talk to their children and reinforce the dangers of throwing objects from bridges.
Anyone with information about who was responsible, or anyone who witnessed the incident, should ring police on 0845 090 1234 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 quoting incident number 225 of September 2nd.
