ROSS Rowing Club ladies' squad competed in the women's head of the river in London at the weekend. Ross was one of the very few provincial clubs to enter two crews in this event. It takes place on the Thames over the boat race course and attracts the best women rowers from all over Europe. Undaunted by the location or competition both Ross crews achieved excellent performances. The Ross A crew of Cox; Dan Ruck, Hannah Jones, Emily Preece, Ruth Davies, Holly Campbell, Nicky Wild, Cathy Fletcher, Annie Williams

Geena Watling, finished 208 over all out of the 320 crews. The B crew of crew Cox – Morgan Baynham Williams, Karen Blackwood, Gina Butler, Laura Martin, Dawn Evans, Geraldine Calcraft, Chris Crowhurst, Jackie Baynham, Sheron Dean Lucas, which ranked a very credible 268. Ladies captain Sheron Dean Lucas commented "This was great result, with both crews rowingsuperbly. This firmly establishes Ross as a leading club in women's Rowing in the West Midlands and bodes very well for the coming regatta reason." Ross also competed this weekend at the Gloucester Head of the River. Taking part were large sections of the junior academy and men's squads. The Junior Academy delivered 5 wins, with a clean sweep in women's double sculls. Amy and Ellie won the W13 and WJ14 events and Kelly and Rosie won WJ15 and WJ16 events. The day was capped off with a terrific win for Lucy Jones in the women's J15 1x. Captain Ian Howell said: "This was a great weekend for all the club.
