11-year-old Olivia Gardiner and her Mum, Michelle, completed the 6.4km walk, up and down, the Sugarloaf Mountain at the weekend. They took on the challenge to raise funds for Herefordshire Home-Start and have collected over £600 for the charity. Olivia has a form of cerebral palsy, right-sided hemiplegia, so completing the trek was no mean achievement.

Michelle shared a picture of herself and Olivia at the summit and said “Don’t know how, but we made it, so far we’ve raised over £600.”

The Home-Start charity replied “Well done ladies and thank you for doing it on behalf of our wonderful charity xx.”

Michelle told the Ross Gazette that she and Olivia took part in the memory walk in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society and raised more than £700. Olivia decided that she wants to do a challenge each year to raise funds for charity.

Michelle works at TSB in Ross-on-Wye, and she explained that the branch had selected Home-Start Herefordshire to be their charity of the year for 2017, which is part of the reason she and Olivia decided to raise funds for the charity.

Home-Start Herefordshire is an independent charity which offers support, friendship and practical help to families who are experiencing stress and finding it hard to cope and have at least one child between 0-19
