The School Council at Goodrich CE Primary School took a stand against the use of plastic recently, by deciding not to buy the plastic wristbands promoted by Sport Relief.

Instead a group of pupils and friends made friendship bracelets and sold them in aid of Sport Relief. Selling them for 50p each, the sale raised nearly £45 towards the charity and not a piece of plastic in sight.

And a month after the event “I’m still wearing mine!” said one School Councillor, as are so many more Goodrich pupils. “So environmentally friendly and long lasting!”

A spokesperson for Comic Relief said: “Thank you for your e-mail, and your support for Sport Relief – the money you’ve raised will go towards funding projects across the UK and globally, helping people lead happier, healthier lives.

“Here at Comic Relief, we are committed to reducing the amount of plastic in our merchandise, and are working towards creating more environmentally-friendly items.

“Thank you for your feedback, and for your creative solution!”
