The final dash is on to make sure the Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile in Ross on Sunday, March 25th is an unforgettable day. Loads of local people have already signed up, but there's still time to bag your place at http://www.sportrelief.com">www.sportrelief.com.
Setting off from Ross Sports Centre, the Ross Mile will skirt along the banks of the River Wye and around the rugby, football and cricket pitches. All the money raised by the public will help people living unimaginably tough lives across the UK and in some of the world's poorest countries.
Event organiser, Therese Warwick said: "The Ross Mile is set to be an amazing event. It's fantastic that so many people from Ross and the surrounding districts are gathering together to show their support for Sport Relief 2012. But we want this – Ross' first Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile - to be one of the best yet – so raise your game, enter the Ross-on-Wye Mile today and join the rest of the nation to raise plenty of cash for an incredible cause!"
Staff at local dance and fitness centre, Wye-Fit have pledged their support by entering a team and by running the warm up session before the start of the event. Local company, MegaBounce has donated a Bouncy Castle to add some fun too. Three local sports clubs – who have taken over the management of Ross Sports Centre; Ross Cricket Club, Ross Juniors FC and Ross United FC will be helping out on the day by providing volunteer support to marshall the route and by manning the BBQ and putting on refreshments.
Participants can choose their own distance, from one, three or six miles, and can complete it in any way they fancy. From teeny tots with their mums and dads, to super sprinters up against the clock, there will be something for everyone on the big day.
