Neil Lucas and James Dean-Lucas have signed the forms to propose Richard Mayo as the new Conservative councillor for Ross Town Council.
The empty seat on the Council was created when Gordon Lucas died last month. Gordon, who was a well loved and long serving member of the community in Ross, as well as being owner of a local business, Lucas Motorcycles, anointed Richard as his desired successor, before his death.
Gordon's son, Neil, said: "Richard has the same mentality as Dad. He has got the town at heart. Dad always wanted to do his best to help Ross and Richard does too."
Richard said: "It's not about the politics for me. It's the town that's at the heart of it. I've been thinking about running for a long time. I've been involved in different things in the past to try and help the town but I've always felt I've been nipping at the edges really.
"Like any other member of the public I've complained about things, I've reported things and I've tried to speak to the right people to influence decisions, but I want a bit more sway. I want more of a say in what's happening in the town."
