A man who offered young women lifts as a taxi driver during November and December has been identified by police.
DS Powell of West Mercia Police told the Ross Gazette that the man was a private hire taxi driver who was unlawfully touting for business. He confirmed that no criminal offence had been uncovered but the matter has been passed to the relevant licencing office with the council.
He added that the women involved took the right course of action in not accepting a ride when they were unsure of the drivers' identity.
Several incidents were reported to the Police by young women who had been offered a lift by a man claiming to be a taxi driver. And after the story appeared on the Ross Gazette website more women came forward with similar accounts.
