Lots of new colourful bunting has been appearing in the streets of Ross-on-Wye in advance of the town’s carnival which takes place on Saturday, August 4th.

The purchase, and the putting up of the bunting has been a great team effort. Andrew Buffrey, Chair of the carnival committee started the ball rolling last year, when he raised the question at Town Council as to whether Ross would be getting some new bunting as the old bunting was beginning to look scruffy.

The Carnival Committee decided that they would foot the bill for new bunting, then the Lions Club and ART stepped in and generously donated two thirds of the cost. Andrew was also supported by Cllr Dan Lister who spent time measuring each location and even adding a few new ones.

When the bunting was ordered they asked the manufacturer to package each strand according to the length and location of where it will be hung making it a lot easier for the council’s workforce to put them up. It was also unanimously agreed that the bunting should be multi coloured so that the town looks festive for the summer months and to enhance Ross when the Carnival parades through the streets.
