How do you cook a three-course meal for £3.50? At this time of rising food prices, this was the task set for Ross Baptist Youth Group as they engaged with “Heaven’s Kitchen.”
They split into boys v girls’ teams and put their money together and went to Aldi to buy food for a three-course meal. Together with food from the zero-waste stall the teams cooked a three-course meal for the other team and the three judges. The standard of food was very high with girls winning the starter and main course and the boys being particularly creative with the dessert meaning that only a single point separated first and second place.

?It was great to see the teams in action and the food they produced. The boys made bacon butties, a pork pate with salad and waffles and thick pancakes with cream, bananas and sauce, whilst the girls made garlic, tomato and cheese paninis, spaghetti bolognaise and fruit salad,” said youth worker Peter Martin.
“The skills they learned and enhanced will be well used in later life,” he added.
