Annie Salter, a talented young dancer from Ross-on-Wye, was selected at a competitive audition in February by English Youth Ballet. The 14-year-old is currently having an amazing time in rehearsals for a professional production of the ballet – Swan Lake. The performances are from August 16th to 17th at the Cardiff New Theatre.
Along with John Kyrle High School student, Annie, the cast includes 100 of the most talented young dancers from South Wales in the production. Monica Tapiador is one of EYB’s principal dancers – she previously danced with English National Ballet.
She coaches the young dancers in rehearsals and she will also be starring in the role of Odile – the Black Swan.
Monica said: “The advice that I give to the young dancers is that ‘ballet is hard’. But, if you love it, it can be a beautiful and fulfilling career. Keep your head up, and if you face rejection, just keep working hard and focus on your dreams, they can come true."See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
