A group of 15-16 year olds from the Ross-on-Wye, Ledbury and Hereford area have been participating in the National Citizen Service (NCS), a programme for young people, since the beginning of July.
NCS is a once-in-a-lifetime experience which aims to help young people develop their character in six ways: challenge, reflection, inspiration, social mix, increased responsibility and independence and finally social action.
For the third and fourth weeks of the course, the NCS young people have to organise a social action project within the community and have chosen to do this by raising money for the Hope Support Services, a Ross-based charity which supports young people when a close family member is diagnosed with a life-threatening disease.
To fundraise for the charity, the NCS team have organised a family movie night, which will be held on Saturday, July 30th from 4pm at the Larruperz Centre in Ross-on-Wye. The films being shown will be, Shrek and Shrek 2. The viewing of both films will cost a suggested donation of £3 per person. There will also be refreshments and cakes, face painting, a tombola and other great kids activities, including a fancy dress competition. It will be a fun event for all the family, with all profits going to an excellent cause.
