Ward Councillors Andrew Atkinson and Phil Cutter met with representatives of Tesco on Tuesday morning, March 26th, to learn more about their multi-million pound plans to build a new supermarket in Ross-on-Wye.

A full planning application is expected to be submittd to Herefordshire Council during the summer, after Tesco has carried out a consultation with the local community. This will include a public exhibition where residents will be able to study the plans and discuss the details with the Tesco team.

The proposed store, which will be next door to the existing Morrisons supermarket, will feature the full range of food, grocery and household goods offered by Tesco. A 260-space car park with free parking and a four-pump petrol station are included in the plans.

Jonathan Simpson, Tesco Corporate Affairs Manager, said: "The store will create around 250 jobs that would be prioritised for local people where possible.
